Lifting Jacks : Movable Fixed Anvil
Mechan’s impressive range of railcar lifting jacks meet even the toughest requirements, but the jewel in the company’s crown is its unique Micro-Link control system, which has set new industry standards in jack controls. Micro-Link enables operatives to plug into any jack and control the entire system, offering maximum flexibility without compromising safety or synchronisation. Using a networked control system, data can be passed between jacks on a single cable, giving the following benefits: User friendly – the software gives simple & intuitive step by step instructions to the operator Jacks can be used without cable installation in the floor The system is expandable – it can control up to 48 jacks as standard from a single Micro-Link control box Software is Multilingual Micro-Link Jack Control System Mechan’s unique Micro-Link system is the most versatile and technically advanced in its field. Micro-Link does not use a large wall mounted control cabinet. It uses a portable panel that allows the operator to control the jacks from any position. Once the system is set up, raising and lowering can be managed from a remote pendant, giving the operator freedom to move around and monitor the lift more effectively. Micro-Link works successfully on large groups of jacks, as the combined power and data cable is ‘daisy chained’ minimising installation costs. It is also versatile enough to allow sets of jacks to be expanded from four to 48 and beyond without the need for any additional hardwiring, just plug and play! Lifting Jacks The company's jacks can be divided into three main types. All have the same high standards of construction and function, but boast different features. Mobile jacks (fixed anvil) should be used on a flat workshop floor. The complete jack is moved to the vehicle for lifting utilising a pallet truck supplied with the jack. Mobile jacks (moving anvil) are similar to those detailed above, but the moving anvil allows the jack to be used in a fixed position. The anvil can be extended to reach a vehicle and retracted to allow it entry/exit from the depot. Rail mounted jacks use rails running parallel to the maintenance road. They incorporate a moving anvil (see above) to allow the jack to interface with the vehicle from a fixed position. Mechan's range includes: 3 up to 10 tonne jacks for trams, metro/light rail and underground trains 15 and 20-tonne jacks for rail coaches and multiple units 25 and 35-tonne jacks for locomotives and on-track plant 45-tonne plus jacks for special applications Mechan Rail Jacks are available with capacities from 6 Tonne through to 45 Tonne. All jacks utilise an electrically driven screw and rising nut type mechanism for reliability and safety, and incorporate a range of safety related sensing devices and interlocks. Rail Jacks are available in Fixed, Mobile or Rail Mounted formats. Fixed or Mobile Jacks can be supplied with extending lifting anvils. All Jacks have bellows protection for the screw and automatic lubrication of the main load nut and feature a safety nut to follow the load nut capable of taking the full jack load should the load nut wear. Mechan currently have multi-jack lifting systems in operation at Heathrow Express, Bombardier Central Rivers, Crofton and Croydon Depots. There are also systems in operation at Maintrain Neville Hill and Birmingham Soho Depot. All Mechan Jacks are designed to work with our unique Micro-Link control system, which is capable of controlling multiple sets of jacks.
